ST. PATRICK’S SPORTS
SATURDAY'S ENTRIES. For the St. Patrick’s Day Sports on Saturday next at Victoria. Park the entries are excellent in the chopping and cycling events. A big attraction will be the appearance of Denny Hoey, the champion axeman, who will be meeting Jim Bannister (who had a try-out on Saturday last against Hoey at Hokitika), also L. Youngman (double winner), M. Jensen (North Island) and other successful contestants at recent events. For the four-teeri-inch underhand chop there are thirty-seven nominations, seven of whom have to be handicapped on the ground. Hoey and other scratch men have been let up a little by the hanI dicapper, Mr. J. Flaherty, so that the heats should provide exciting finishes.
