HISTORY FOR HITLER

“Danzig is a German town,” roars Hitler to the tame Reichstag and the world at large. Let us examine h's case. From its foundation to 1308 it be’onged to Poland. In 1308 Danzig fell to the Teutonic Knights; in 1350 it came under the Hansa Federation as a Free City. In 1454 Danzig once more became a Pol’sh town and remained so until in 1793 Poland was partitioned. From that year until 1807 the city was Prussian; from 1807 to 1813 it was occupied by the French, though belonging nominally to the “Ducny of Warsaw” created by, Nanojeon, and from 1814 to 1920 it belonged aga’n to the Prussians. In 1920 Danzig became a “Free City" under League of Nations direction. The town has now existed for more than 700 years, but has only belonged to Germany for about 160 years of that time.
