[Our Own Correspondent]. REEFTON, September 26. . Considerably increased interest is being taken by residents of Reefton and district in the affairs of the Reefton Jockey Club. This was made manifest at the last meeting of the committee when forty new members were elected.

Mr. T. H. Lee, left this morning for Christchurch on a brief business visit. „ , . . The death took place at Pahiatua on Thursday last of Mr. Oliver Johnson, at the age of 63 years. The deceased was a native of Nelson and began his association with newspapers as a compositor in Reefton, later going to Palmerston North, Dannevirke and Pahiatua, and at the time of his death was Woodville agent for the “Manawatu Standard.” He is survived by a widow and one son. . Mr. S. Lawn, Dunedin, and Mr. F. Lawn, Greymouth, arrived in Reefton to-day, and are renewing old acquaintanceships.
