WEDDINGS
ALLAN—McVIE. The wedding was solemnised at Holy Trinity Church on Saturday of Phyllis, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. McVie, Cobden, and Alex, third son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Allan, also of Cobden. Archdeacon J. A Jermyn officiated. Mrs. W. Baird was organist. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of white angel skin lace over satin beaute, made with tight bodice and finished with a row of satin buttons to the waist and peter pan collar. A flaired skirt with a sash of satin lined lace fell to form a train whilst an embroidered tulle veil, held in position by a bandeau of orange blossoms, formed a second train. She carried a sheaf of spring flowers. The bridesmaids, Miss Kit Allan (chief), sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Edna Sullivan, niece of the bride, wore frocks of green and apricot lace over satin, cut on the same lines as the bride’s and finished with ,'knobs of flowers to tone and shoulder length tulle veils. Mr. Laurie Climo (Roa), was best man, and Mr. Les Howat (Cobden > was groomsman. The wedding reception was held at the residence of the bridegroom’s parents. Mrs. J’. McVie, mother of the bride, wore a black costume with black and white Breton sailor hat. and black fur stole. Mrs. G. Allan, mother of the bridegroom also wore a black costume with a black hat trimmed with pink flowers. On Saturday evening a large number of guests were entertained at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. G. Allan, where games and community singing were thoroughly enjoyed by all present. Mr. and Mrs. A. Allan, will reside in Cobden.
