’ WEST COAST TOURNEY 1 CAULTON AND R. ADAMSON IN FINAL. Favoured with almost perfect weather conditions, the West Coast golf championships were continued at the Mahinapua links, Hokitika, yesterday. There was a fair attendance of spectators and keen interest was again taken. Chief interest centred in the men’s championship, in which the semi-linals were closely contested. G. Adamson, who was favoured, was eliminated by B. Caulton (Greymouth) in the semi-final, Caulton winning 4 and 3. Caulton played good golf, but Adamson struck a bad patch in the afternoon and his defeat was the surprise of the day. R. Adamson continued in his winning form and a really good final to-day is assured. The men’s flight handicaps were keenly contested and several surprises resulted. B. Jones and F. F. Boustridge are the only Greymouth competitors left in the semi-finals. Jones showed convincing form in his matches and to-day meets Millen (Hokitika) in the final of the second flight. The ladies’ championship reached the semi-finals, Mrs Andrewes winning her match with her sister, Miss Adamson, after a keen struggle. Miss Robertson (Westport), the other finalist, was playing really excellent golf to defeat her club-mate, Mrs Slee. The weather in the afternoon was j sultry at times, but the drying condi- I tions enabled the committee in charge ! to get the events off well to time, j Results: —■
