(Our Own Correspondent). i HOKITIKA, August 19. The Gael, which sailed yesterday for Wellington, is expected to sail from that port on Monday for Hokitika. The Hokitika is loading at Wellington, and sails on Saturday for the West Coast. This evening, fotball and basketball teams from the Rangiora High School arrived here to play matches against the local District High School. The visitors, who make a trip to-morrow to Lake Kanieri, leave on Saturday on their return. At the Addington sale yesterday, fat cattle from the West Coast sold well: Estate of W. F. Diedrichs (Lower Kokatahi), 8 steers at £l4 2s 6d to £l7 17s 6d, on account of Mrs. A. Diedrichs (Lower Kokatahi), 8 steers at £l5 7s 6d to £l6 17s 6d. The registration is announced of the Westland Co-operative Dairy Company with a capital of £20,000 in £1 shares, subscribers of 25 shares each being: J. B. Douglas (Arahura), P. S. Heslan (Kokatahi), D. J. Evans, J. J. Mclntosh (Hokitika), W. A. Jamieson, A. F. Dimmick, S. J. Godfrey, W. M. Harcourt, and P. J. Cropp (Koiterangi). Another local company, Ross and Burt, Ltd., has been registered as aerial conveyance and garage proprietors, with a capital of £2,947 in £1 shares, viz.—C. Ross, 1237; G. Burt, 1237; F. H. Johnstone, 300; A. H. Appleton, 200. Pirate Senior team to play Celtic at Greymouth on Saturday are: Ritchie (2), Thorpe, Kulsen, Harrison, Finch, Growcott, Parker, McGlashan, H. Tuhuru, E. Wells, Phaflert, Agnew, Davidson, Johnson. Emergencies: S. Tuhuru, Crase and Dale. W. Jeffries and Co., report having held a successful clearing sale at Tetaho in the estate of the late J. Croawell. The dairy cows were rather backward in condition, but were disposed of satisfactorily. Spring cart £lO, tank £4 ss, saddle and bridle £2 ss, and a large quantity of sundries brought full market rates. The Golf Club’s L.G.U. August Bogey was won by Miss L. Knight, 3 down; Miss B. Yarrall, 4 down; Mrs. A. Thompson, 6 down. In the “C” grade,. “Hidden Holes” Competition, Mrs. C. Schroder and Miss Manson tied over six holes. Mrs. Schroder won on the additional two holes by one stroke.
