Sproule and James defeated Grandguillot and Beazley 6/4, 6/4. Crawford and McGrath divided the singles, owing to rain delaying the programme. In the semi-final of the singles, McGrath beat A. England 6-0, 10/8, and Crawford beat Bromwich 6/1, 3/6, 6/1. In the final of the Kent, tennis championships, Jedrejowska defeated Alice Marble, 6/1, 9/11, 6/1. In the final of the West of England championships, Lizana defeated Frau Sperling, 6/2. 9/7. In the final of the Kent tennis championships, Yamagishi beat Turkey, 8/6, 4/6, 7/5. At Liverpool, Perry beat Vines 4/6, 6/1, 6/4, 6/4. Tilden and Stoeffen beat. Perry and Vines 6/3. 11/13, 7/5. In the semi-final of 'the Davis Cup contest in the European zone, Germany eliminated Belgium. Doubles results were: — Von C'ramm and Henkel defeated Lacroix and de Borman 6/4, 6/3, 6/4. Czechoslavakia eliminated Yugoslavia. Menzel and Hecht defeated Pallada and Puncee 2/6, 6/0, 7/9, 6/1. Menzel (Czechoslovakia) beat Pallada (Jugo Slavia) 6/2, 6/1, 6/0; and Hecht (Czechoslovakia) beat Puncac (Jugo Slavia) 7/5, 6/2, 6/3. In the doubles, Menzel and Hecht leading Pallada and Punec, 2/6, 6/1, 6/0, 7/6, when rain stopped play.
