(Our Own Correspondent-) REEFTON, May 3At a meeting of the committee 01*ganised to conduct the Coronation celebrations, Messrs Seawright (cha'r). L- R. Austin., H- Campbell, J- Patterson, C- Dobson, D- Panekhurst, IL Cooper, W- Prentice. S- Robinson, Revs Seaton and D'ekens attended. The Nelson Education Board wrote asking -the meeting to cons der donation of £6 of £25 allocated by Inangahua County Council as a payment for souvenir to lie issued by board to school pupils- It was liesolved that the County Coune’l be requested to decline to make the grant-
Messrs Seawright and Panekhurst reported the Jockey Club had granted the committee the use of the racecourse on the afternoon of Coiionaton Day.
Mr Cooper suggested business people be inv’ted to decorate their premises for the day. also motor cars and motor lorries to make trade displays for the pitoeession—Carried-
Air Robinson suggested that a competition be organised among school children for the best decorate I bicycle. Mr J- Patterson offered a pr'ze of'los 6d, and Mr F- Seawright offered a like amount of pr ze money. These offers weile accepted with thanks- Messrs Cooper, Prentice, and Panekhurst were appointed to judge the decorated bicycles.
The Sister s of Mercy advised that the Convent School pupils will be present at the celebrations.
Mawhera'ti School Committee, teachers at Capleston School, and Cronadun School advised that pupils will attend function at Reefton-
The secretary, Waiuta School Committee. advised that Waiuta was holding a gathering at Waiuta, and’ wishing the function successMr H- Campbell moved that the school children move from the school n the County Chambers, and that the Convent pupils join the party at the County CHmbers, and attend the civic function and that the mam procession assemble at the County Chambers at 1.15 to move to the racecourse—Seconded by Mr Prentice and carriedThe band is to be invited to lead the procession on both occasionsMrs D. and Miss Marcia McVicar left by Saturday morning’s tiam for Christchurch, en route for We” : ngton Au addition to the mail delivery to and from Big River has now been made. Formerly only one mail per week was delivered and received. Now a twice-weekly service is to be instituted, closing at Reefton for Big River on Tuesdays at 10 a.m., and Fridavs at noun. ' The mail from Big River will arrive on Tuesdays at 10 a.m.. and Fridays at 11 a.m.
Mr Jack Dellaca. of the Ashburton branch of th c Bunk of New Zealand, arrived this morning ami will relieve Mr Brisk temporarily. The latter goes to Dunedin. ;
