The strength of the parties in the Japanese House of Representat.ves be. fore the election was: —Se.vuhai 17! seats, Minseito 205, Showa-hai 19, Ko. kumin Dowei (new Japan National League) 15, Shahai Taishuto (Social Masses Party) 18, Independent 33.
