The Premier of A’ietoria. Mr. 'Dunstan. announced that he had received the resignation of the Chief Secretary and Minister for Labour (Air. Bourchier). who has been appointed AgentGeneral for Victoria in London.
A Press Association message stated that Dr. Hugh L. AViddowson. of Christchurch, has been appointed as Medical Superintendent of Wanganui Hospital in succession to Dr. A. D. Nelson.
Miss Alice S. Bourke, ALA., has resigned from her position as Bacteriologist in the Grey Hospital, and will leave New Zealand in July for England. where she intends to take a postgraduate course of lectures in Bacteriology at London University.
In recognition of his length service Mr, A. T. Buddy, Alilton Road, who on June 1. completed fifty years’ service with the Dispatch Foundry Company, Groymoiifh. as a moulder, was presented with a cheque by the Directors of the Company. For many years Mr. Buddy, who became apprenticed in the Foundry at the ago of 13 years, has been foreman-moulder. During his long term nf service Air. Buddy has lost less than six weeks’ work through illness.
The wedding was celebrated re cently at St. Andrew’s Fresliyterian Church. Glentunnel. of Arthur Herbert son of the late Airs. Barrow ami of Afr. Barrow (Greyniouth). to Thelma Winifred, onlv daughter of Afr. and Mrs. R. Deeming (Whiteeliffs). The Rev. L. W. Rothwell performed the ceremony ami Aliss T. M. Gilmour was organist. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore an ivory silk velvet frock, made with a trained skirt. The bodice was shirred in front, a row of buttons extended from the neckline to the waist at the back, and the tightfitting sleeves formed points over the hands. Tier veil of silk tulle was held to the head with a halo of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of hothouse flowers. Throe of the bride’s cousins acted as attendants. Misses Molly Stuart (Coalgate) and Noroen Kennedy (Greyniouth) as bridesmaids and Afiss Quita Hassall (Greyniouth) ns flower girl. Their frocks. made alike, were of mulberry silk velvet re lieved with silver trimmings. Silver roses wore arranged in their hair and their bouquets toned with their frock’. Mr. Stuart Looming, twin brother nf the bride, and Mr. B. Stuart, the bride's cousin, attended the bridegroom. Afr. and Afrs. A. If. Barrow -will make their home at Grevmouth.
