JEWS DISAPPOINTED
IN PALESTINE Lord Melchett’s Angry Protest I | (Aus.‘ and N.Z. Cable Assn.) i (Received Oct. 21 at 5.5 p.m.) I “It is almost, unparalleled ingfati- ' tude and treachery toward credulous and harassed people who believed themselves to have found haven under the British Hag and the guaranteed word of British statesmen,” says Lord Melchett in denouncing the Palestine decisions to Dr. Weizmann in which he (Lord Melchett) also resigns with Dr Weizmann the joint chairmanship 'of the Jewish Agency's Council. 1 Lord Melchett declares: —-“The British Government's action is a grotesque travesty of the purpose of the Palestine mandate and an insult to Jewry’s intelligence. The recklessness with which the Government have wrecked the loyal support of Jews throughout the Empire and throughout the world is incredible in view of the fact that thousands of the Jews joined the British at a critical moment in the Palestine campaign, many giving up their lives for what they believed to be a genuine offer for the establishing of a Jewish national home.
