PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE.
BUSINESS TRANSACTED DURING YEAR. The following particulars of the loan transactions of the Public Trust Office and new business reported during the month ended 31st March, 1929, have been supplied by the Prime Minister, the Right Hon. Sir J. G. Ward:— The amount paid out in settlement of ne wloans was £124,864. Further new loans were granted to the amount of £70.045, and the total of new loans now awaiting completion is £380,341, while offers of loans less than the full amounts aplied for amount to £85,517 —a total of £465,858. Renewals of 42 loans amounting to £242,660 were also authorised. Applications for additional new loans amounting to £256,723 are now under consideration. Estates of a value of £849,313 were reported and accepted for administration during the month. On 31st March 1928, the total value of the estates under administration was £44 155 548. and the new business for the twelve months ended 31st March last amounted to £7,091,350. Although the new business for the twelve months ended 31st March, 1928, was greater than that of any previous year, the figure for that year has been exceeded by those of the year just closed, to the ex'ent of £579,422. Grants of administration made by the Court in favour of the Public Trustee number 129 fo r the month. During the month 517 new wills appointing the Public Trustee executor were deposited for safe custody with ‘he Public Trustee by living testators, and the total number now held is 62-, 841 representing an estimated present value of £215,000,000.
