FINANCE BILL PASSED. Adjournment till June. (Special to Argus.) WELLINGTON. December 14. After a sitting lasting until after 3.3(1 o’clock this morning, the House lb presentatives passed the Finance Dill giving the Government jiower to raise an additional £BOO,OOO for various purposes. The main opposition to the measure came from the Reform benches. This morning the Bill was put :hr .ugh all stages by th e Legislative Council. The House met this morning at 11.30 o’clock, after valedictory speeches had been delivered on th e usual lines.; the House adjourned until the end of June. The Unemployed. PREMIER’S PROMISE. TO HELP THEM ALL. (Special to “Argus”). WELLINGTON, Dee. 14. Before the House adjourned to-day, the Members sought further information from the Primo Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, regarding Unemployment and tlie rates of pay for relief work Mr D. Sullivan asked if the Primo Mini tor would provide work for the unemployed until such time as he had an opportunity of putting his new public works policy into effect. Sir Joseph Ward stated that the House and the country might rest assured that everything would be done to alleviate the present position. Replying to Mr Parry, the Prime Minister said that the question of the subsidies to Hospital Boards was at present being considered by the Government. Sir Joseph Ward added that all of the men employed on relief works would have their rates of pay brought up to 14/- per day. So far as city -elicf workers were concerned, lie proposed to go info the possibility of increasing their rates of pay as well as the fates for the country workers. N.Z.
