(From Our Own Correspondent.) The friends of Mr J. Maldi will be pleased to hear that, he is steadily recovering from his serious accident. Miss Jean Cameron, a pupil of St. ColumbkiHe’s Convent, Hokitika, was successful iu passing the recent short hand and typewriting examination, held in connection with the Sydney College of Business. Messrs M. Kennedy and Spence Taylor visited Dunollie during the week-end. Mr Jas. McCarthy, accompaniecT'Tjy his son Steve, left for Hokitika on Tuesday to attend the funeral of Mr McCarthy’s late sister, Mrs Howard. Mr and Mrs L. A. Inkster (Greymouth) visited Waiuta on Sunday. The Staff Tennis Club’s team visited Reefton on Sunday last, but owing to heavy rain the game had r to be abandoned. The cricket match set down for last Sunday had to be abandoned owing to rain. The fixture tor tins Sunday is Totara Flat v. Waiuta, at Waiuta, for the Pratt Cup. The report of Blackwater Mines Ltd. showed a profit over all of £B4l for last month’s operations. The excavating work for the new court for the Public Tennis C.’vb is to bp put in hand during the holidays. The annual school concert atid distribution of prizes takes place in tl.e Hall on Saturday evening next. An excellent programme has been drawn up, and in addition to the items, a 6000 feet special picture is to be screened. After the concert a dance will be held. The following will represent Waiuta in the Pratt Cup competition match with Totara Flat on Sunday: E. J Fitzgerald, J. R. Reid, R. Taylor, A. Malloy, J. Hollman, J. Short, S. P. Williams, H. Pinch, A. Brough, J. Collins, J. Douglas, R. Tomlinson, and 1 ‘Nellie.”
