NEW SERIES Their Secret Out. (Sun Cable.) (Received December 12 at 11.10 p.m./ LONDON, December 12. Authoritative details of the muchdiscussed new British cruisers of the “York” class, which hitherto have been kept with the utmost secrecy,’ were revealed to-day in thc publication ‘‘Jane’s Fighting Ships.” The Cruiser ‘‘York” is the first example of the type, aud she is considered to be peculiarly suitable for the special requirements of the British Empire. It is claimed that the Admiralty is justified in its preference for a medium-sized cruiser. There will be six of the York class, two of which are now being built. Their standard displacement is 8,400 tons. They are 575 feet long, and 57 feet wide, carrying six eight-inch fifty calibre guns, four four-inch anti-aircraft weapons, and six 21-inch triple torpedo tubes.
