THEFT OF FLEECES.

CHARGE AGAINST FARMER. CHRISTCHURCH. Decemer 11. In the Magistrate’s Cqurt to-day Frederick Hayward. I’-mfold, a farm) r *of Leith field, was charged with stealing fleece wool from two neighbouring farmers, of a total value of £22. , Penfold elected to be dealt with by a jury. Mr A. W. Brown, acting for the Police, said that rtain wool was found to be missing the sh'jds of Busch Brothers, and John Henry Jame’s car . Tracks were found leading from both sheds to Penfold’s place, and later it was found that Penfotd ‘Had sola d rtai,n wool to one named Hamilton in Kaiapci. The bags were not found till December when they were found in busU s, near the read, leading to Kaiapoi. Evidence in suppart of this statement was given. Accused pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial. Bail was ailowjM in self at £2OO, and one Surety of £2OO
