(From Our Own Correspondent.) HOKITIKA.. November 10. The steamer Gael is on a trip Bruce Bay and Okuru. The erection of a bridge on the One Mile Road, Arahura, is to b< started this week by the County Coun • It is expected that the No. 1 unit of the Westland Power Coy's J)ill inanstown Station will operate this week. Mr George R-.'od, Upper Riccariou, has been appointed starter for the Westland Racing Club for the coming meeting., at which Mr James W. Thomon. East Oxford, is to donate a whip to the winning rider in the Hokitika Handicap. At a cost of £5O, a water supply for the course is to be provided. The arrangements regarding lire insurance were approved by the club. It was resolved in selling the publicans’ booths to offer one with the option of the two booths. Owing to lack of plant it was decided to dispense with the stewards’ luncheon and refreshment arrangements. The privileges in the local racing and trotting meetings were auctioned by Mr M. Houston, and Mr A. Dowel) purchased the rights for both of t?ie niblicans ’ booths, those for the race meeting at £56 10s each, those for th e trots at £2B each.
