LAMAS PROTEST.
AGAINST INTRODUCTION OF TOBACCO. DELHI, December 7. A diplomatic hitch between Tibet and Nepal may follow the introduction of tobacco into Tibet by Nepalese traders, who have popularised smoking which is strictly forbidden by the Lamas. < The Tibetans threaten drastic action. The holy men are determined to stamp out smoking, because the “poisonous stench of tobacco will drive away our spirits, and cause sickness, pestilence and perdition.’’
