In Fitzroy River Valley. ELDERLY COUPLE CAUGHT BY FLOOD. BRISBANE, December 9. Rockhampton reports that a severe storm swept Fitzroy River Valley today, two and a-half inches of rain falling in thirty minutes. The creeks in gullies became raging torrents, and a hailstorm in some places added to the destruction. An elderly couple namer McWhirter, while crossing a creek near Farkhurst, when the flood caught their buggy, which capsized. A young man named Richard Bowles, rescued both the occupants, though the old man had a narrow escape, a? was entangled in the buggy, and injured. Bowles then saved the team and vehicle.
