POLICE CHIEF KILLED.
SHOT DEAD IN HIS HOME. BOOTLEGGER’S REVENGE. NEW YORK, Decemebr 7. While sitting at his home, Chief of Police Leroy Gilert, South. Chicago HJj&ghts, Chicago, was shot dead, and his wife wounded by gunmen who escaped. It is allied that the act was revenge for the arrest of a bootlegger comrade.
