THE “NEW REVEILLE”

Another Successful Night.

The success that attended the tw» opening performances of the “New Reveille” was repeated last night when the Town Hall was again filled. From the opening bar of the overture to “God Save the King,” there was not one dull moment, the audience showing its appreciation in no uncer fain manner, every item coming in for salvoes of applause. For an ama I tour production, the “New Reveille” is splendid, ballets aml chorus work being stamped with the especial geni us in this class of work of the pro ducer, Mr W. Lints. The scenery and lighting also contribute in a large measure to the success of the entertainment, some of the effects especi ally standing out in brilliancy. One of the keynotes of the success of the production is the skilful blending ol comedy, dancing and singing. Th.2 soloists—Miss B. Adkins. Miss M Warnes, Mrs W. Fletcher. Mrs C. Hall, Miss D. O’lTallahan, Miss F. Fraser, and Mr N. Jones—all performed very creditably. Miss B. Adkins scoring instantaneous successes in her numbers, “Ramona” and “Jeannine.” Perhaps one of the most popular items of the night was the Acrobatic Speciality Dance by Miss A. Mills and Mr W. Lints. The skill displayed by these two performers would be difficult to equal in any show. Miss J. Miller was also a big favourite in her Toe Dance, and she must appeal as one of the most graceful dancers that has graced a Greymouth stage. Th“ comedy work was <in the capable hands of Messrs L. McGlashan. A. Wilde, and Miss D. o‘Hallahan. the audience at times being convulsed with laughter at the local hits introduced. Taken singly or as a whole, the “N<|v Reveille” is easily the finest amateur production ever staged in Greymouth, and in fact would compare more than favourably with many of the profes sional shows that have visited here, and confounds the contention that ama teurs cannot come up to professional, standards.

Mr Lints, like a wise producer, has not placed all his eggs in one basket The “New Reveille” is like an open ing rosebud, it has new beauties to unfold. Amongst the new numbers to night will be a beautiful Indian num ber. the Bell Topper Ballet, the Human Fountain act by 60 performers, the beautiful Flower Ballet, My Blue Heaven,” by Miss Adkins and. Ballet, the Butterfly pallet, “The Intruder.” a comedy sketch; Breeze, with full Ballet. Mr Leu McGlashan Mr Wilde, and Mi’s Doreen O’Halla han’s new comedy numbers arc a scream from start to finish.
