CHANNEL TUNNEL.

SCHEME FOR ELECTRIC RAILWAY TRAINS AT 120 MILES PER HOUR. LONDON, December 6. An engineer has worked out a scheme for a 7ft gauge electric railway, linking up London ■with Paris, via a Channel tunnel. It would follow an entirely new route from England to France. It would enter the Channel near Dover, and emerge at Wimereux. The Channel tunnel, including eleven mile approaches, would be forty-four miles. Trains weighing 550 tons, drawn by electric locomotives, would attain :« maximum of 120 miles per hour, and an average of 92. They would complete the 253 miles journey in 165 minutes. The estimated cost is 190 millions sterling.
