THE PAPAWAI MEETING. WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION’S DECISION. MASTERTON, January 16. A special meeting of the Wairarapa Rifle Association Executive to-night considered the report of the conference of the Wairarapa and Wellington Associations, which met to discuss the proposal by Wellington that Wairarapa should this year hold the annual Papawai meeting at Trentham, to enable the visiting Australian riflemen to get practice on the Trentham Range prior to the National Meeting. The Executive decided to hold the Wairarapa meeting at Papawai, as usual, on February 20 and 21, at which the Australians would be invited to compete, and to extend the programme to seven matches and increase the prize money.
It was further decided to give the Wellington Association every assistance to organise the teams match to be fired at Trentham on Saturday, February 19, and to send a Wairarapa team to compete against N.S.W., Victoria and Wellington.
