OPIUM FR AUDS, [Per United Press Association.] Al.’<'KL.l.ND. August 10. “The accused was using far meropium than any other chemist in Auckland,” said Chief Detective Cummi.ige this morning, in the Police Court when there was preferred against Frank Leslie Jinderyon, alias G. T Wallace, tho tiuu&ivd charge that al Auckland on or about Deeeiubc'r Ist, 1924, he did forge the name of A. Gillon in a retailer'n opium book kep’ by him (accused), in accordance with regulations mado under the Opium Ael 1908, with thg intent that It should be acted upon ns genuine. In outlining the ease, and asking fo> a reirniid until August 17(11, Chief De tective Cummings said that Anderson was a chemist at Devon port. In eon.seuenee of complaints being made to the police of forgery in the opium book, inquiiii-s were made, end the police found that he was using more opium than any other chemist in Auckland. The aec’nsed then came to know that proceedings were pending, and he slipped tn Wellington, wherlie was arrested, just n« his boat was leaving for Syilnjy. He was then tilling an assumed name. The accused was allowed bail in the sum of £2OO, o’t condition that he reports twice daily to the police.
