OPERA HOUSE— MATINEE TO.DAY “LILIES OF THE FIELD” BRILLIANT PICTURE. A picture brilliant from the opening title to the final fadeout is “Lilies of the Field,” First National’s picturisation of William Hurlburt’s famous stage play, which will be shown at the matinee in the Opera House to-day and again to-night. Tn the new picture, which was directed by John Francis Dillon director of “Flaming Youth” society life is painted as it has never been shown before. The directorial touches reveal that “Flaming Youth” was not just an accidental hit, but the carefully planned result of an artistic director’s handling. Connne Griffith and Conway Tearle add much to their popularity by their portrayals. Miss Griffith especially does splendid work. Iler interpretation of a young woman thrown into contact with the lilies of the field who resists temptation after a hard battle, is one of the sincerest pieces of acting ever seen on a local screen. Splendid characterisations in the new picture are also given by Sylvia Breamer, as the faded lily Myrtle Stedman, Charlie Murray, Charles Gerrard Edith Ransom, Alma Bennett, Dorothy Brock.
