AITKEN AND PETERS.

THEIR NEW PREMISES. When Messrs Ai'ken and Peters removed to their new premises, next Kilgour’s, Mawhcra Quay, Greymouth, members of the firm showed just what could be done in a short time. Previous to their removing, their new premises were renovated and repainted; mirrors were hung just in the right places, and the effect is charming to the eye. Artists in window dressing, their show wnidow in Mawhvra Quay is one of the sights of Greymouth. Entering from the Mawhcra Quay, entrance, one encounters the Mercery Department. Everything is neat and trim, and the firm show some wonderful values. Then comes the Dress Department, whore all the mysteries of feminine wear are displayed to the delighted fair sex—crepe de Chines, voiles, sponge cloths, ginghams, and coloured crepes, are everywhere. Next conics the fancy department, with its ribbons and laces—frail, flimsy-look-ing laces, with choice designs. Tn*n through a fine archway one conies to a carpet and rug department, where the latest designs of carpets and rugs arc desplayed. Further on, in the millinery show room, there arc scores of hats arranged in such a manner as to tempt money from the pocket oi 1 the most thrifty housewife. Still on, one comes to the children’s department, where children’s wear is stocked in great variety. Here we can step into Albert Street, and there view another show window, dressed about as daintily as the first. Aitken and Peters’ new premises are more of an Arcade than a shop. {Skylights, which seem to be in the correct place, throw a nice light on the displayed drapery, and sundry mirrors give the place a delightful tone, seldom seen. The huge trade now being done by this firm since their removal i > the larger premises, has (oiiipulJed them io buy heavily. Large shipments of all Ihe latest fashions are due next week. | -advt.
