Notice is hereby given that at a Special Meeting of the Greymouth Borough Council, held on Thursday, the Sth day of June, 1922, the following resolution was passed, and will be submitted for confirmation at a Special Meeting of the said Council to be held on Saturday, the Bth day of July, 1922, at 11.45 a.m., at the Council Chambers, Mackay Street, Greymouth: “WHEREAS the sum owing by the “Greymouth Borough Council on “the 31st day of March, 1922, on r “overdraft at its bankers, viz., “The National Bank of New Zea- [ “land, at Greymouth, was £9553/“9/6, AND WHEREAS the sum ' “owing by the Greymouth Borough “Council on the 31st day of March, “1922, to persons from whom it “had received moneys on deposit “was £1550, AND WHEREAS th> ( “aggregate of the two said sums, “viz., the sum of £11,103/9/6 “represents the ‘antecedent lia“bility’ of the Greymouth Borough “Council, as defined by Section 5 “of ‘The Local Bodies’ Finance “Act, 1921-22,’ and WHEREAS the “Greymouth Borough Council pro- “ poses to extinguish the said “ ‘antecedent liability’ in accordance with the provisions of ‘The “Local Bodies’ Finance Act, 1921“22,’ by (a) paying the sum of “£lO3/9/6 out of its revenue, and “ (b) borrowing the sum of £ll,OOO. “NOW THEREFORE the Grey- “ mouth Borough Council, in exer“cise of the powers vested in it by “ ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, “1913,’ and the Local Bodies’ “Finance Act, 1921-22, hereby re- “ solves by way of special order. — to borrow the said sum of “£ll,OOO for the purpose of “extinguishing part of such antecedent liability. SECOND, that the said sum of “£ll,OOO shall be repayable on the “Ist day of August, 1937. “THIRD, that for the purpose of “providing interest, sinking fund “and other charges on the said “loan of £ll,OOO, the said Council “hereby makes and levies a special “rate of four-fifths of a penny in “the pound on the rateable value “(on the basis of the unimproved “value) of all rateable property in “the Borough of Greymouth, and “that such special rate shall be an “annual recurring rate during the “currency of the loan, and be pay“able yearly on the Ist day of “April in each year during the “currency of the loan, being a “period of 15 years, or until the “loan is fully paid off.’’ Dated this Sth day of June, 1922.
