WELLINGTON, December 6. The Minister (Sir W. Fraser) says: The fact that on :!lst March. I<S\*. the unexpomliMl authorities in the hands of local bodies and of the officers of my Department amounted to £209,(5-12 for roads and bridges alone, clearly proves that it was the scarcity of labour and material, and not of money, which accounted for only £135,(142 having been expended during the financial year on such work. The total back blocks roads vote for Grey. "\Vestla n d and Buller roading is £9,499, on which the liability from last year totals £860. Last year's total vote was £9.385 and of * this £1 .4,30 was . expended. The back blocks roading votes for the Greymoufch district include tJio following.: .Big River road, £100 (liability £1.00) ; Kokiri to Moana, £1000 (on account of £1,500 voted); Stonpy Creek bridge, £225 (liability £200). .
