The Press Bureau reports ; thafc Sir Francis Hopwood has been created a, peer. ' Mr. W. E. Williams, of Hokitika, President of the Westland Racing Club, was a visitor to Grey last evening. Mr. D. J. Evans. Secretary of the Club was also pfesent. Captain F. J. Foord has again been wounded in the recent fighting in France. He had only been back in the trenches four days. His mother, Mrs. Potherbridge, of Cobden, received word to this effect yesterday. Private advices have been received from Lieutenant T. E. Y. Seddon, M.P., who took part in the recent heavy fifirhting at Gravenstafel and She Abraham 1 Heights, reposing "All's well." The town and district are sorry to learn that the Rev. E. D. Patchett will be relinquishing his charge of St. Paul's Methodist Church in April next. Mr Patchett has during his thine years in Greymouth proved himself an able 1 minister and has surrounded himself with piany admirers, representing all creeds and classes. His earnest efforts for the good of the whole, community have won for him a high regard, and though he has on occasion found it necessary to take a leading part in secular affairs he has never shown a lack of respect for his opponent, and his arguments have been sincere and on broad lines. Mr. Patchett has accepted a call to St. John's 1 Church, Nelson.
