LOSS OF THE WAIRUNA. FINDING OF THE COURT OF . ENQUIRY. IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS. WELLINGTON, October 12 The following has been released by the Censor lor publication. The text of the findinff of the Court of Enquiry into the loss, of the Wairuna: — i It is highly, probable that he loss was caused by enemy action, either • through operations of a raider, or : through the placing of a timed I bomb on board the vessel before she j left port ; and of these two the latI ter is 'the more probable cause. The j court makes the following recomI mendations for serious and ur- ; sent consideration by the Government: — (1) That stricter precautions be taken to prevent the approach of unauthorised persons to vessels and wharves. (2). That stricter v precautions be taken to prevent undesirable men being- employed on vessels and wharves. (3.) That firms employing members of alien enemy nationality .be not permitted to ship goods. (4.) That all persons going on board vessels be searched, and all. lu#gag:e to be taken on vessels beexamined. (5). That all cargo for shipment' be packed under Government supervision, and be retained thereafter under Government control until shipped. (6.) That if there are cases "where compliance with the immediately pre ceding recommendations is not practicable, in such cases the . package be retained in Government con- , trol for an indefinite time before 1 shipment. y
