John Miller M'Narry Duncan, aged forty-one years, was killed by a big . fall qf metal at a quarry where he Avas working at Rakaunui. He sustained shpeking injuries. Another man ■~ William Cutler, had a narrow escape. The pit had been frequently inspected, but np danger was apparent. Deceased leaves a wife and several children, at Makuri. : v SUGAR SUPPLIES AUCKLAND, February 21. In reference to rumours in the south of the shortage of sugar supplies, the Colonial Sugar Company states that ; lull supplies are available; but delivery j has been delayed owing., to the short ■ age pf steamer communication. About ( 1700 tons will be despatched for Southera ports before Saturday.
