OUR MAIMED & WOUNDED BOYS

(To the . Editor) I Sir. — I was astounded to read a letter over the signature of "A Depeixlant" which appeared in your pap jer and which pointed out that the Coronation Cremony is to bo repeated on Monday evening-, and is to clash I with McLean and Coy's Monthly | Benefit .in aid of "Our Fallen and Wounded Soldiers," and, dame rumiour has it that the entertainment is. to enable a suitable presentation being made to Mr Pollard. This I can hard ly believe At a time like the present when we are in death grips with our enemies, and appeals are being made to 'the public for funds to provide some comfort for our maimed and wounded and their dependents, I fee] sure that Mr. Pollard or anyone else would scorn to accept one shilling recompense from the public for what they liave so nobly done for Patriotic purposes. In fairness to Mr. Pollard I T understand that he is off 'the Const at- the present time, and I am not in a. position to say, whether- the move ment lias I. "is approval or otherwise, to say nothing of how the public view the situation. At a time like the oresent there must be no clashing. We must all make sacrifices-accordi-ng to our means, and above all we must stand .shoulder to sloulder like true Britishers, and offer a helpjng hand to those who fought /nnd wore j prepared to sacrifice their lives for our country. And by ■doin.cr.so we will, encourage recruiting and eventually strike the final blow wl'iclr I trust will bring about eternal peace. Thu l]injr you <for -trespassing on your valu able space. — T am etc. .UNITY, . We have published the above letter in its entirety, .bu-e.we have, no sympathy with the sentiments contained, in it. Mr. Pollard las worked like :\ Troian for the Patriotic cause, and it i'l befits anyone *n- inrnute wrong motives to him.
