, taranakl timber workers Award. (Pcr r United Press Associatiop.. NEW PLYMOUTH, May 28. After two days sitting rhp Conciliation Council fixed the awaid foi the Taranaki Timber Woikers. It is the first aw^rd to bo made in the district for bush sawmills. The m.nimum wages at ordinary rates for not more than Q4 hours a fomight for bush mills are as follows : — Head henchman who keeps ts 6d per hour; benchman who does not keep saws, is 3d ( per, hour; first breakdown Tnan/ is sd per hour*, secODd breakdown, man, rs 26. per hour; tailerout; is 26. per 'hour; head yardman (per week) £% ss ; crosscuttcr, keeping saws, rs 4<l 'per hour: other cross cutter >is 3d 'tier 'hours- bullock driver, is 3d per hour; 'first ropeman, is 3d per hour; second ropenian, is 3d per hour; jackmnn. is 3d per hour; all 'other labourers, 'inducing casual is 3d per hour; nightwatchman (per week) £2 12s 6d. . The hours of work in town mill yards and factories are not to exceed 47 hours per week The hours sbaJl be from 7.30 to noon and from 1 to 5 p.m. during the first five days of tlhe week.;" and from 7.^0 tonoon on Saturdays, except that during- the months of May, June and July, the hours may be from 7.30 to noon and ftom T2.40 to 4 40 p.m. The hours, may^bc adjusted by ar'•onpvrrent with the union" to suit the varying- conditions, provided that not more than eight hours and a ihalf h<» worked in any one daV between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., irnd not more than 47 ho"3fs in one week.
