w.;b. h^well. (Per United Press Association.) ' '■ 'TIMARU, May 28. An old identity, • Wi'JL Hawetf, aged 72, has passed 1 away.' He camebbust s in 1864 and has taken a prominent part in the administra*jon of education, primary and se condary, and was familiarly spoken of as "The Father. of' Tlmaru High School." ' The funeral to-day- was largely attended, ' representatives of the Borough Council,' Education Board, 'Farmers'- Cooperative Association, (of which , deceased was an original founder antf director) being amongst those present. * * MRS. FRANCIS KING. s ' •Mistress Frances King, nee' Shrimp ton, daughter of the first printer of ■the Lyttelton, Times, is dead. She married James A. King, bro-her-in-law' of Barnard Rhodes. Mr King took part of the original Levels run from Rhodes Bros, and' founded ,the Otipua/hometead, Mrs" King com ing Jd6wnin 1888.' She leaves two sons here and a daughter.
