ATTEMPTED SUICIDE
MAN'S RASH ACT. Patrick O'Connor, a single man, about thirty four years of age, made a very determined attempt to' end his life yesterday. It appears-.that O'Connor, wiho is an engine-driver, had been employed at one of the -sawmills at Gladstone Siding. He knocked off work there and went to Waiuta, and afterwards to Ikamatua. Yesterday he ; came to town, and put ud at the 'Commercial Hotel. Later in. th'e^ day he went to the Criterion Hotel and booked a room and went up stairs. • Later one' of the servants (heard moans proceeding from the 'room. On an investigation being made, it was found that O'Connor had cut his throat, using a strong pocket knife for the purpose . The police were at^once summoned and medical .assistance procured. The doctor bandaged the "wound and O* Connor was removed to the Hospital.
