Gisborne, for the professional heavy weight boxing championship, of New Zealand, and a purse of £7$ attracted an audience that filled the ■ Opera House to overcrowding. ■ Lowe wpighed list iolb, and Bart* lett i2st 2lb. - x It proved one of the most strenuous heavyweight contests held in tihis district*. ' : ' ■ Although really heavy effective hitting was not very prevaelnt, by common consent Ba'rtle'ct must be gived credit, for showing more aggressive 1 ness against, Lowe than any previous opponent. ' • ' • He did best, however, only at close quarters. In the seventh round Lowe was struck down by an unexpected back hand blow, but after waiting down the, long as possible returned to the fray little the woTse.
