Speedometer and Palisade with' the former showing the way, both finished strongly at the end of, five furlongs m iiio 1-5. 1 Directoire, Peerless, Gapon ana Wairaki broke away in company from the mile post, and ran together until ..turning for home, when the- first named drew away, and finished in front of the others in 1.54 4-5. Those-that finished behind the .mare have "been racing lately, and on that account were not bustled too much at the end. although it seemed a 1 pleasing enough gallop on the part of- the winner. Troon obtained the advantage when commencing with Mosgiel at the mile post( but the latter was quickly on terms, and ran the t full 'distance in 1.53, doing the last seven • furlongs in 1.38 2-5 "Gregory required 1.39 4-6 to '.over seven furlongs, and ,Formnal l and Pretty Jane skipped over half a mile in ,%S 4>5Buller worked five furlongs in i.iz 2-ssecs, and Golden King put up half a mile in 60 1-5. Cocoon, Cannonade, Wild Pil* grim, Ou'-look and March King, were allotted useful work. Eous and Kirn set' out for a school over hurdles, but .the former came down' at the third fence. Kirn, jumped well, but a/tiiflle ,tco eagerly.' . The other horse was .remounted and crossed another couple of fences. Kia Ora jumped three of the school !ing fences on the inside of the I course.
