The Premier srteplied that before the Royal Commission' was 'appointed there were 2758. The Liberals appointed 864 and jthe Conservatives 1733. Politics were unknown in the matter simce the appointments were nominated by the Advisory Committee". A resolution approving of Lord Loreburn's action was carried by 131 to 39.
