FIRE AT ANCKLAND.

Shortly before two o'clock this morning a firq broke out in tho fruit and • confectionery shop known as "The Rest," in King's Court buildJ ngs upper Queen Street, occupied by M.rs Levy in tho centre of a new brick block owned 'by Neville and Newcombe. Mrs Levy, hei' son, and lady help, Mass Neillie- Woods, had a very* narrow ;escape, as the retreat was cut off, and only ,the time .of arrival of the brigade saved them both from death. Tho fire was suppressed in albout twenty minutes, but mot .before 'the 'building was practically gutt<?d. Little damage except by smoke and water, was done to the adjoining shops.
