LONDON, Nov. 24. The rioting at Penygraig and Tonypahdy was a desperate affair.
The police, in the main street, wer c subjected to sudden rushes by strikers from side alleys. The 'rioters hurled stones, household .utensils and boil'ng water from verandahs on to the heads of the police.
The Chairman of the Miners' Union vai-nly appealed to them to desi.it from violence and narrowly escaped pe,rsonal injury.
Some 50 rioters were injured. The absence of arrests as a feature of the disturbances. " '■'
The Times 'condemns Mr Churchill's vacillation and feeble administration in South' Wales, which is" given over to disorder and violence. Crtizess are terrorised, shops plundered, and dwellings destroyed.
