Two men, named Brown and Young, were firing shotn at the three hundred feet level in the Senate mine . ■ - ;

One went off, and before Brown reached the ladder a piece of rock struck and > injured him. He was assisting his wounded companion to climb, when a second shot exploded. . ' ■

Flying stone injured Young's hip, and in spite of his own injuries he persevered till he placed Brown in safety.
