WOOL SALE AT TIMARU.

TIMARU, Nov 23,
The (first wool sale of the season for South. Canterbury was held at Timaru to-day, the catalogue comprising 4,500 'bales, chiefly small lots.
. The wool was generally of fair condition, but much w r as very badly classed.
There- was a large attendance of buyers, ; and good competition by all portions of ?Jve trade.
As compared with the first sale last year, pprie s show a decline, but taking 't-h'e heawe.r conditions of clips into consideration, prices were considered satisfactory.
Range of pi-ices : — Super half bred ll£d to 122-d, medium half bred 10d to lid, halfbred 9 to 9§d, medium threequarter bred 9d to 10£ d, inferior 8d to Bgd, medium cross bred Bgd 'to 9fd, inferior 7d to Bd, super prices B£d, medium 7id, inferior 6d.
