ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN.
Cr Tindale said before retiring he desired to thank the councillors and clerks for the assistance they- had g : ven him. He was pleased to hand over the position in an improved condition. ' .
The councillors then went into committee to consider the election of a chairman.
On oresuming Cr Hargreave s moved that Cr Ryall be elected chairman". He said he knew Mr Ryall's father for forty years, and felt sure his son would maice an excellent chair-
man,
Cr Harris seconded, and all thi councillors supported.
Cr R} r all then, took the chanr and heartily thanked the councillors for the honour conferrecT upon him. He had occupied ' a seat at the Council table for seven years and had received nothing but kindness and consideration, He hoped r'm his position of chairman he would have their support. He would during his term visit all pl^rts of 'tlhe district, ( and endeavour to improve t-ho position of the Coundft. Hon. James Marshall congratulated Cr Ryall on being elected chairman, and said he would receive every assistance from the members. Cr Hargreaves said since Cr Ryall had occupied a seat at the council he had exhibited a keen business capacity. He felt sure Or Ryall .would be as great a success in the office as his late father, who was one of the best members the council ever had. Hon. James Marshall moved and Cr McCarthy seconded that Cr Hargreaves' be 're-apbinted' treasurer. Crs Ryall, Hannan, and McCarthy were appointed to sign cheques. The Council then adjourned.
