Lily.' The Kaitoa is -due from north today and sails to-night for Nelson dir«ct. The Kennedy is due on Friday from Wellington via ports. The Kittawa sailed yesterday wi:Ji a cargo of timber for Timaru and Lyttelton. The Kairaki left port yesterday for Lyttelton and Kaiapoi, timber laden. Captain, M. Edwin, of the Kaitang;ata, left on Saturday night for Auckland to take command of the Whangape. Captain Buxton, chief officer of the iKaii-tangata, lias been appointed acting master,, and Mr Basron has joined her s chief officer. Mr Edge, acting 'third officer of the Hauoroto, has joined the Kaitangata as second officer, and Mr A. Kerr has joined the ! Hauroto a s third officer. Mr J. Down:*, date second officer of the Marara> has been appointed chief officer of the Rosamond. Mr Cox, late of the Karori, has joined the Mararoa as second officer.
Captain Scott, of the Kairaki, states tha his vessel left Hoki'i..ka on Tuesday with 100,000 feet of timber, the vessel taking a similar quantity at Greymouth. The Kairaki could cross the Hok.Vcika bar with about 120,000 feet on board, not a quarter of a million feet as has been stated.
