A considerable portion of -the army's rifles have been stolen by officsrs The Sultan has xecoyered possession by ordering the troops <to Fez for inspection in order to make them show the officers who produced the arms and hired " loafers >to serve as "soldiers, and • also concealed the fact that they were; drawingpay for more men than they commanded. When the arrrr-' appeared the palace gates were closed and the soldiers disarmed lo the chagrin of -the officer*.
