GIRL OF SEVENTEEN SWALLOWS

WANGANUI. Nov. 22. A seventeen year old .grirl, .named Mirian Parker, died this ahernoan as the result of taking match heads.
On Friday morning the girl had a trivial dispute- with her mother, Mrs Ernest Barnes, as a consequence of which she left ' the house.
She returned about an hour and a half later and said that she had swallowed a box ,of match heads.
Her mother did not believe her story, and the incident was forgotten till Saturday night, when the girl was seized with a fit of vomiting.
Medical aid Avas obtained, and the sufferer taken to a private hospital, where she expired to-day.
The girl was very intelligent and of a cheerful disposition.
She was a student at the Girls' College.
