, GORE, Oct. ' W. A destructive -fire occurred at three a.m this morning when the loc il railway engine shed 'was burned to the ground. The building- -contained .wo locomotives, one' class X,, used on 'he express between Gore and Kin?=f oh. and the other class; F. shunted/ A gale was raging all night an'? xhe structure being of wood, was quickly demolished before a.ny effort could be made to remove the 'engines. 7i : e brigade was. powerless to do any more than prevent the spread of the flames to buildings near by Indeed it was fortunate that the wind was from the west and not from the opposite direction, as in the latter alternative it is highly probable that a number of the street shops, forty yards away, would have been destroyed. The pumping plant. in the same build ing, consisting of a high power oil, engine and' pump,-was seriously damaged The two locomotives present a most dilapidated appearance in day light. AH the light fixtures are buck3led or torn off by -the excessive heat. There will no interruption in the service as a special arrives here to night with other locomotives. ' The origin of the. outbreak is a complete mystery.
