THE BICYCLE ACCIDENT.

CHRISTCHURCH, April 19. In connection with the accident, to Tames Smart, in Barbaaoes street, on baturday evening ,the police, state the ocsuirense took place through Smart colliding with a cart driven by a man named Edward .Wright, employed by his father, a manufacturer of aerated water. Wright states he was driving along Barbadoes street at about 6.30 and was. on his right side with lamps burning on the cart. A man shot out from Hereford street on a bicycle and ran between the horses legs, the wheel of the cart passed over him, and the, horse received a fright and dashed down the road for about a chain before he could pull it up. On going. back he found Smart Avho did not seem to 'be vary badly hurt. .He was able to give his name and was then placed in a cab and taken to his home. The injured man is progressing favorably at the hospital.
