THE BOROUGH OFFICERS.
(To the Editor.) _ Sir, — I wonder what -was; the cause of the City Fathers not meeting on' Wednesday evening to consider the classification of the petty officers, of the Borough. This matter has been; held back for some time, tmt whenft special meeting is "called for- a particular purpose I think the councillors shonld have attended. Perhaps, as the man in the street said, the councillors could-not meet for such important business until the ratepayers had decided by their . yote for the Llsjooo loan, and that then and only then would they be prepared to give their unbiassed opinion on such an important matter. ' Some others of your readers may be üble to explain and give more light into the matter.— l am etc, •■ • :- ....-c-. CITIZEN. . T [We are informed that every endeavor was madeito hold the meeting of the Borough Cqnncil on Wednesday evening but it was found impossible, from various reasons, (to jobtain] a quorum.— Ed.
