Westland Racing Club

The annual meeting of the West* land Racing Club was held at Hokitika on Friday night. Mr A. Stevenson presided. The report stated that the t evenue had been well maintained and i through the debit balance showed an increase of L 22 there was -a decrease of LIOO under the head of liabilities. Stakes paid during the year totalled L L 950 and tho nor. returns from the tobalisafc»r was L 520. Over LI 10 was S) ent in improving tho course and a contract is in havid for further improve* ments. It is contemplated painting all thi>- buildings before the midsummt r n-eeting. Mr W. J Keller retind from tho post of handicapper after a long term of valued service and Mr Pollock, Wellington, filled the vacancy. By the rearrangement of dates the club's Easter meeting will be midway among the West Coast fixtures. On the motion of tho chairman, seconded by Mr C. Maifroy, the report was adopted. T he following committee w«s appointed :— Messrs Stevenson, Beare, Bulland, Mc'Gregor, M'lntosh, Robinson, Keller, Preston, J. D. Lynch, Evans, and Dr Teichdmann. At a subsequent meeting of the committee the following appontments were made:— Chaii man and Judge, Mr A. Stevenson; Deputy Judge and Clerk of the Scales, Mr E. H. Robinson; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr D. J. Evans; Handicapper, Mr J. H. Pollock; Clerk of tho course, Mr H. Earns bach; Starter, Mr F. A. G. Archer; Timekeeper, Mr H. Butland; Hon Surgeoo, Dr Teichelmann; Course Committee, Messrs M'lntosh, Beare, Keller, Pre3ton and Me'Gregor. It was re-» solved to draw up a programme of L 450 for the midsummer meeting, and to call for tenders for painting the course building ann picket fences.
